Geospatial tools can empower planners and public with ocean information.  Large amounts of data about the oceans and coastlines have been gathered, but are currently inaccessible to those managing the oceans and the public who use the ocean daily. Geospatial tools can pool information and make it available for everything from siting off-shore energy to planning a day at the beach.

April 2010 - Stanford's Barbara Block speaks in the Galapagos as part of TED's Mission Blue Voyage to protect the ocean. Marine biologist Barbara Block fits tuna with tracking tags (complete with transponders) that record unprecedented amounts of data about these gorgeous, threatened fish and the ocean habitats they move through.
